Using the repair guide everything went smoothly. The mac is as quiet as a mouse.

Be sure to keep track of the screws both the number and their original location.

My Problem

After, um, 10 years! the right side fan on my 2006 vintage MBP gave up the bearings and was pretty noisy. Time to replace it.

My Fix

Repair went w/o a hitch. This is the 3rd time I've opened the machine (SSD, new keyboard) so I knew what to expect. Had the tools including the spudger from earlier forays. . . .

The fan started to be noisy and quite annoying.

Hoping noisy sound would just go away bit did not, LOL.

The process went well except for one nasty screw that won't unscrew easily.

And by the way, the Phillips #00 screwdriver you sent didn't work well and did not fit the screws... So I had to get a . . .

right fan on MacBookPro went crazy. Unbearable noise.

My Fix

I followed iFixit step-by-step, got the fan out, cleaned & added a drop of WD-40. Was OK for a day, but then noisy again. Ordered replacement - used - from iFixit. Opened MBP up again, swapped the fan - now running again super quiet. Very sati . . .

The repair was successful. I'd been through the iFixit instructions for disassembly for several other fixes, this one was no problem.

Get a spudger, they work very well.
