My Problem

The symptom: Touchpad stopped clicking in.

The troubleshooting: I took the bottom off the Macbook Pro Mid 2010 and removed the battery to figure out why the touchpad wasn't working. Adjusted the click screw underneath the touchpad and put the battery back in. The touchpad wouldn't click. So I removed the battery once more. The touchpad clicked down when the battery was removed. Looked closely at the battery and noticed that it had started buldging. BAD NEWS.

My Fix

Received the battery quicker than I thought I would. Thanks iFixit for the fast shipping. I had been using the Macbook for a few days without the battery by just plugging it into power when I needed it and setting it up to hibernate when I closed the lid or pushed the power button. I removed the bottom and installed the new battery. Buttoned everything up and sure enough. The touchpad was clicky again. Booted up the Macbook and checked my battery health monitor app that I had installed months ago. The battery had more MAh than the original max MAh for that model Macbook. Causing the battery health to jump up to 106%.

My Advice

Always use OEM parts for battery replacements. Never misjudge a non-clicky touchpad on an otherwise perfectly working Macbook as just a touchpad issue. Things aren't always as they seem.

My Problem

The issue was that after nearly five years of continuous use, the MacBook's lithium battery was failing and the ominous "Replace Soon" label began to appear under the battery icon.

My Fix

At first, the original battery sent didn't work out as well as expected. However, iFixit's support team quickly remedied the situation with issuing a new replacement through the same fast FedEx channel as the original one. And, the second repair was just as fast as before.

My Advice

Batteries seem to be funny things and therefore, I think it is important to thoroughly test the battery that you received to make sure it is performing optimally. The repair itself is a piece of cake, just follow the guide on the website.

My Problem

I needed to replace my battery

My Fix

very well

My Advice

nothing to complain about it

My Problem

The old battery was not charging well and the charge only long for two hours and the MacBook Pro stop sending the alerts for low charge when you use it.

My Fix

Good, I didn't receive by now a complain from my customer and he told me the performance is good and normal for the battery

My Advice

No, just follow iFixIt advice and videos.

My Problem

After over 2,000 charge cycles on my originally battery it was no longer holding a strong charge.

My Fix

I first tried to replace it with a cheaper amazon battery and totally wasted my time as the battery was defective. The IFIXIT battery worked perfectly and installed in just minutes.

My Advice

I first tried to replace my battery with a cheaper amazon battery and totally wasted my time as the battery was defective.

My Problem

Old battery didn't last very long, usually only and hour or two after charging.

My Fix

Repair itself was easy, but battery supplied was not much better than the one I replaced. I now get a couple hours after charging. When it was new it was about 10 hours.

My Advice

Don't buy this. Waste of money.

My Problem

The original battery inflated like a balloon.

My Fix

Perfect.

My Advice

You can rely on iFixIt? Yes, they have the experience and give you a good advice.

My Problem

Battery life was less than one hour.

My Fix

Easy Peasy.

My Advice

Easy. There are 10 screws that hold attache the bottom of the laptop: 3 long, 7 short. Make a small mark at the screw holes on the back cover to remember where the long screws insert. Once open, use some canned air to get rid of dust bunnies. There are 2 tri-tip screws that hold the battery in place. Be careful removing the battery cable from the logic board. I used the plastic wedge under the battery cable first to begin prying it off the board.

My Problem

I had to replace the logic board and battery.

My Fix

Battery replacement was easy, the logic board took exactly what the guide said as well.

My Advice

Have the tools ready and within reach.

My Problem

battery was super old and lasted less than an hour

My Fix

super easy.

My Advice

triangle screw was tricky, i recommended getting one from this side before openning yours.
