My Problem

My wife has had her Macbook for a long while now and as with all batteries, over time, it has lost some of it's capacity. I trusted iFixit's kit and community of experts, along with repair guides to replace the battery myself.

My Fix

Following the guide to a T, I was able to get everything taken out and rep . . .

Battery was getting old and not performing well. Its 6 years old and would shut down at 50%.

Great! Done in 30 minutes.

My Advice

Reset your Mac's SMC. Try doing that first, but make sure you do it with the new battery, once installed.

Easy pezzy. Instructions and tools in the kit were great. The most difficult part was waiting for the glue dissolver to do it's magic.

One thing to note: the back case screws on the beveled edges go in at an angle, not straight down. I slightly stripped the treads one one h . . .

Defective battery - no charge / no power without AC plugged in.

My Fix

Much quicker than in the guide - used an infinitesimally small fraction of the solvent provided (maybe 2ml per side) and the glue softened immediately. Used alcohol cleaning pads to remove the residue.

Use a tiny, tiny amount of the sol . . .
