Re-connecting fan ribbon cable

I am trying to install a new fan but the ribbon cable is so small and flexible, I can't insert it into the ZIF socket.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Update (08/27/2018)

I tried to do this and ended up breaking the latch while trying to pull the ribbon cable through the opening. Not happy about the result, although I think I have found a work-around

Sorry to hear you have broken the latch.

You’ll need to get a new base connector and carefully snap it out and replace your broken latch unless you broke the connector body side in which case you’ll need to get some one with good micro soldering skills to replace the full connector.

Haven’t had any luck with work-arounds - Sorry

Chosen Solution

Get some electrical tape and cut it down the the width of the ribbon cable fold over one end to create a pull tab. Now place the tape onto the ribbon to give your self something to pull either in or out as needed. Then you can peel off the tape.

Don't forget the unlatch the connector first!

Close the latch after the cable is fully inserted to lock it in place.
