We all have stuff around the house that breaks, and even if you’re not well-versed in repair, you can probably fix it with the right help. Earlier this summer we spent some time with Peter Mui, the founder of Fixit Clinic, a community repair workshop where people bring their broken things to diagnose, disassemble and hopefully fix.
They provide Fixit Coaches and tools to help guide you through the disassembly and repair process, though everyone at the Fixit Clinic usually helps each other out.
Peter was kind enough to walk us through a couple of the most common repairs they see at Fixit Clinic, including troubleshooting optical drives…
…and replacing thermal fuses, both of which are a common source of failure in a many different devices.
