So, as i'm sure a lot of people have old g5's lying around, a lot of people will also have broken ones, and I think an ifixit guide on reporpusing an iMac g5 as a monitor would be an excellent guide, I know it's not exactly a repair, but it can be done, as seen here:http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.p... I'm sure someone at ifixit will be able to make a useful guide from this, it would be very exciting.
