Jack Nicolsen you cannot make the determination without working on it. The number one give away on here is this "dropped initially about 10 hours ago" and " the left side of the screen had a tiny crack" You have a failed digitizer. Replacing that will resolve your issue. This video should help you with that. Don't start soldering on the board until you have properly checked everything else.
