Interchangability of SATA Optical Drives
I have and early 2009 MacBook with a non-functiional SATA Matshita UJ867A superdrive. I can replace it with the SATA superdrive used in the unibody's, right?

They are not physically compatible. Here's why:
The Unibody machines feature optical drives with elongated casings that act as a bracket. Therefore, a Unibody SATA optical drive will not physically fit in an early 2009 MacBook.
This optical drive is a replacement for your part.
