Step 1 — Preparations
Remove the bumper.
Step 2 — Loosen screws
Use the T3 screwdriver to loosen all 10 screws (two at the bottom of the USB port). Work along the ascending numbering of the screws. This will ensure that you don't forget any.
Step 3 — Detach display
Now run your fingernail or pick between the display frame and the center frame of the SHIFT8.0, starting at the bottom and working your way around.
Step 4 — Open carefully
Now you can carefully lift the display upwards and then place it upside down next to the lower housing.
Step 5 — Detach camera modules
Both camera modules are not fixed in the housing and are connected to the main board with a plug. Hence the rattling noise.
Step 6 — Apply double-sided adhesive
I have now stuck small corners of double-sided adhesive tape to the corners of the camera modules to stop the rattling.
Step 7 — Reinsert camera modules
To be able to reinsert the camera modules with the adhesive tape, it is better to loosen the plug connection once and insert the cameras vertically into the housing from above.
Step 8 — Reconnect the housing
Now you can carefully reconnect the display to the lower housing. Start at the bottom, where the two screws are to the right and left of the USB port.
Step 9 — Insert screws
If everything is working properly, you can now screw in all 10 screws again. It is best to start with the two at the bottom of the USB port.
Step 10 — Last steps
Once all the screws have been replaced, insert the battery (if you haven't already done so for the test run), attach the back cover and pull the bumper over the SHIFTphone.
