    • Make sure to store the screws somewhere you won't loose them, like on your FixMat.

  2. Kobo Glo E-reader USB Port Replacement, Disconnect the ribbon cable: step 2, image 1 of 1
    • All you have to do is lift the black locking arm that is keeping the ribbon cable in place. See picture.

  3. Kobo Glo E-reader USB Port Replacement, Remove the motherboard: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • Carefully remove the motherboard from your e-reader.

  4. Kobo Glo E-reader USB Port Replacement, Check the voltage on all six motherboard pins: step 4, image 1 of 1
    • Check the voltage of all six pins: if a pin shows no voltage level this probably means the pin is loose.

  5. Kobo Glo E-reader USB Port Replacement, Resolder the disconnected pin(s): step 5, image 1 of 1
    • Use as much flux as possible (i.e. with the use of a flux marker).

    • A magnifying camera makes the job a lot easier.

    • Make sure that the pins are not touching each other.

    • Carefully reassemble the parts.

    • Make sure that the e-reader functions properly before completely reassembling and closing it.

I needed to see how the USB plug was aligned on the motherboard and your guide showed me exactly this. Since I am not able to solder I will ask someone else to do the job, but at least I know I tried my best. Thank you.
