Introduction

The front caster wheel of the Roomba gets dirty very easily because it runs over all of the dirt and debris that the Roomba picks up. This guide shows you how to take the wheel out and clean it easily.

Flip the device over onto its back
  • Flip the device over onto its back

  • Unscrew the single screw that connects the side brush to brush motor using the Phillips head #2 screwdriver

  • This screw does not come out of the yellow side brush

Remove the four Phillips #1 screws on the back panel.
  • Remove the four Phillips #1 screws on the back panel.

  • Pop off the back plate once the screws are loose by gently prying away from the body

  • The screws don't come completely out of the panel, but it will still come apart once unscrewed.

  • With the robot upside down, hold the caster wheel housing steady.

  • Insert the plastic spudger under the wheel housing.

  • Apply force to pry the wheel straight up.

  • Remove the wheel housing from the robot.

  • Hold the wheel housing firmly in one hand.

  • With the other hand, push the wheel up and pop it out of its slotted housing.

  • Clean the wheel with soap and water.

To reassemble the robot, follow these instructions in reverse order.
