    • Pull the wheel off from the axel, pulling from the top end first so it can slide out at an angle.

    • It will be easier to remove the wheels if the motor assembly is tilted so that the wheel that you are removing is elevated.

Do not lift motor assembly too high. There is a spring under the motor assembly and it will fall out of its place if motor assembly is lifted too high.

How is it possible to get enough room to get the wheel off. You can get it loose but then it still between the axle and the side and not enough room to get it off

I recommend a magnetic tip number one screw driver , because I just took apart because I could not get the clearance to remove the wheels. The bumper screws have a retainer that keeps the screws from falling out.

iRobot does not sell replacement parts for the 240, other than things like batteries. I look for dead As-Is units on eBay and buy them to scavenge parts. (And it really irks me that iRobot doesn't sell the parts!)

Thanks, William Fickas! I wish I knew this when I bought my 240. Selling their product but not keeping long term customers happy seems to be this company's mantra.

Followed the guide and a spring fell out!? It has 5 turns and about 1" long with a 3/16" loop on one end? I'm thinking that I lifted the wheel assembly up just a bit too high. Any idea where that spring came from? Maybe somewhere in the middle of the assemble? Other than that the guide is perfect! Thank you and keep up the good work!

I just went to a fix-it fair in Eugene. Turned out to be one of the wheels doesn't move freely, but by the time I found your instructions the fix-it guy had put the front part back together and apparently had no more time for me!
