Find fabric either from the dress or similar to the dresses fabric and cut a feasible amount to use as a patch.
It is best to try to find a section in the dress that you can take fabric from without it being noticeable. If that is not possible it is okay to use another fabric that is close to your garment's fabric.
The patch can be cut any way you want to cut it (square or circle pattern) but it needs to be about ½ to ¾ inch larger than the hole you are repairing.
