Find fabric either from the dress or similar to the dress's fabric and cut enough to use as a patch.
Try to find a section in the dress that you can take fabric from without it being noticeable. If that is not possible it is okay to use another fabric that is close to your garment's fabric.
You can cut the patch any shape you want to cut it (square or circle pattern) but it needs to be about ½ to ¾ inch larger than the hole you are repairing.
