Introduction

This guide provides instructions for removal of the internal battery from the Vivitar DVR 785HD. Replacement of the battery requires soldering and removal of adhesive. This guide should be followed only if the reader is comfortable with soldering on small electrical boards.

Image 1/1: Locate the four case screws: two on each side of the switch plate. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the two 4mm Phillips #1 screws counter-clockwise.
  • Place the Vivitar DVR 785HD on a flat surface with the lens facing up.

  • Locate the four case screws: two on each side of the switch plate. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the two 4mm Phillips #1 screws counter-clockwise.

  • Rotate the device 180 degrees and repeat for the screws on the opposite side.

  • Be sure to set the screws aside in a safe place.

  • Carefully remove the plastic case cover by applying a small amount of force in the seam to pop the case open.

Image 1/1: The battery is held to the front half of the case plate with adhesive. Lift carefully with fingers to detach batteries from front case.
  • Move fingers or plastic opening tool around the seam and apply force to separate the front plate from the backplate and motherboard.

  • The batteries are now only connected to the motherboard by a solder-to-wire connection.

  • To detach batteries from the motherboard, use a soldering iron to unsolder the batteries’ wires from the motherboard.
