    • Turn the peg belonging to the string you are wanting to change to loosen the string.

    • Violins have four string. The strings from left to right go: G, D, A, & E.

    • Pull the string out of the peg.

    • Remove the opposite end of the string from the fine tuner holder.

    • Place new string in peg hole.

    • Turn the peg to tighten the string.

    • Place nub in fine tuner holder.

    • Make sure the string is sitting in the groove in the bridge.

    • Gently tug on string to make sure it is secure.

Thanks for this very clear set of instructions with clear images. I am an amateur violinist and broke a string while tuning. Even I could use these instructions and it was as easy as the post says. Thanks for posting and to ifixit in general.
