Introduction

This guide will instruct you, step by step, in how to remove and replace the disk drive in your Vaio VGRFS640.

  • Flip laptop over so that "Service TAG" is shown at the top left corner.

  • Remove highlighted screws from back of laptop.

  • Remove screws from panels at bottom right hand side.

  • Remove two panels at bottom right hand corner by sliding in direction of arrows shown

  • Make sure that the new CD/ DVD drive is compatable with the Vaio VGRFS640

  • Sony no-longer has a list of compatable drivers, however the original driver can be found here under optical drive.
