Tefal kettle defective: On Switch no longer works

What you need

  1. Tefal kettle defective: On Switch no longer works, Disassemble the kettle: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the Lid

    • Remove the two screws (on either side of the handle, on top)

    • Remove the Handle

    • The linkage that leads down from the 'switch' has a kind of 'joint' made of flexible plastic

    • It's obvious that something like this doesn't last forever..... bend it back and forth 1000 times and it breaks.....

    • Planned obsolescence?

  2. Tefal kettle defective: On Switch no longer works, Make replacement 'joints': step 2, image 1 of 1
    • Bend 2 new joints using copper wire

  3. Tefal kettle defective: On Switch no longer works, Drill holes: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • Drill two 0.8 mm holes, in each of the 4 plastic ends

  4. Tefal kettle defective: On Switch no longer works, Install the new joints: step 4, image 1 of 1
    • Thread the wires through the holes and adjust them.

    • To make room for them, shorten each plastic tip by 1 mm

  5. Tefal kettle defective: On Switch no longer works, Test: step 5, image 1 of 1
    • Attention, to test; this little red pin has to be pushed in... otherwise the switch won't click into place

Conclusion

Work through the steps in reverse order to reassemble your device.
