    • Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove the two 11.5mm screws on the back of the iron.

    • Remove the back cover piece.

    • Make sure iron is unplugged and cooled off.

My model, bought in late 2016, has different fasteners that I cannot clearly determine, but definitely not for a Philips #0. Any suggestions?

    • Removing the left black wire will also free the red wire, attached by the same screw.

Where can you get a replacement power cord?

Yes, where can we get cords? I see a lot of people having trouble with shark irons

These instructions are not helpful at all without a source to purchase a replacement cable. Two people have previously asked this question. Can we get a response? I have done extensive searches online for a POLARIZED 16/2 HPN power cable with crimped ring terminals. NON-polarized ones are cheap and readily available. The show up immediately when searching for an iron replacement power cable. That’s not the cable used for this iron, nor is it the cable used in the pictures of this repair. Please tell us where we can purchase the cable, or even tell us you don’t know. Please, don’t just ignore the inquiry.

Model# GI505-55 uses security T-10 screw used to secure back panel. Suggest testing both conductors for continuity from above white clamp to the ring connectors. This may be the point of failure if the clamp was over-tightened. In this case, the cord can be reused with a loss of 6 inches and crimping of new ring connectors.
