Introduction

The motherboard of the Fit is hidden deep insde the device, but once it's revealed, removal is just a matter of disconnecting a few ribbon cables.

Place your thumbs on the ends of the screen. Push the watch outward while pulling the band away from the watch.

Heating the device with a hair dryer may warp the screen or damage the device.  It it preferable to use an iOpener for this step.

Gently pry the screen loose using a plastic opening tool. If the screen doesn't easily come loose, more heating may be required

Disconnect the ribbon cables connecting the screen to the motherboard by lifting their metal connectors up off of the board with tweezers. Three ribbon cables hold the motherboard to the rest of the assembly. The battery cable in the front. When reassembling the device, make sure the battery cable is securely connected.  Moderate force may be required to push it in all the way.

  • Using a pair of tweezers, carefully pull each connector away to disconnect it from the rest of the assembly.

The motherboard is a segmented three piece construction. Use tweezers to first lift up, with a moderate amount of force, and free each ends of the motherboard from the assembly.

  • If the motherboard is stuck it may be caught on the assembly. Wiggle it around to free it. You may also need to pull the edges of the assembly away from the motherboard to create space.
