Go to step 1 ↓This is a guide detailing the removal and replacement of the charging port for the Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro (SM-G715U). The charging port enables the device to receive power and connect for data transfer, and replacement may be necessary if the phone won’t charge, only charges at certain angles, or has an inconsistent connection. Make sure that there is also no moisture in your charging port, as causes and solutions are linked here: Samsung Phone Moisture Detected in Charging Port. However, first rule out simpler issues like a faulty cable, adapter, or overheating. Before starting, power off the device, remove the back cover and battery, and work carefully to avoid damaging internal components. After completing the guide, reconnect everything securely, reinsert the battery, and reassemble the phone, then test charging functions. If problems persist, the issue may be deeper within the motherboard or power circuit and may require professional repair.

Using a heat gun, or a hair dryer on high, heat the screen, focusing on the edges around the screen to melt the glue holding the screen on.

After heating, insert picks around the barrier of the screen as wedges to help with pulling the screen off.

Use a spudger or tweezers to pull the ribbon connecting the screen to the device, disconnecting it entirely.

Remove the ribbon cable connecting the charging port board (bottom) and the motherboard (top).

Remove the fourteen 4 mm screws holding down the backplate using a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

Use an opening tool to remove the backplate.

Remove the 2.4mm screw holding the board in place with a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Disconnect the two wires clipped onto the board.

Remove the charging port board.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
