Introduction

If the audio is not playing, even after following the troubleshooting instructions, then you may need to replace the headphone jack using this guide.

Have the front of the device facing you.
  • Have the front of the device facing you.

  • Begin near one of the curved edges of the device.

  • Place plastic opening tool between the front and back panels.

  • If a plastic opening tool doesn’t work, using a metal spudger may work, but it may damage the plastic on the device.

Once the plastic opening tool is fully inserted, wedge it around device’s edges to separate the panels. Lift the back panel off of the device.

  • The back panel will make a clicking noise while being lifted off of the device.

Starting with the white ribbon cable, carefully flip up the retaining flap on the ZIF connector. Slide out the ribbon cable.

Flip up the retaining flap on the ZIF connector with the black ribbon cable. Slide out the ribbon cable. Slide out the ribbon cable.

Flip up the two ZIF connectors on the motherboard using the plastic opening tool. Slide the orange ribbon cables out of the ZIF connectors. Slide the orange ribbon cables out of the ZIF connectors.
  • Flip up the two ZIF connectors on the motherboard using the plastic opening tool.

  • Slide the orange ribbon cables out of the ZIF connectors.

Use a Phillips # 000  to remove six of the 4mm screws.

Lodge the plastic opening tool under and lift the motherboard out of the tablet. Lodge the plastic opening tool under and lift the motherboard out of the tablet.

Use Phillips # 000 to remove two of the 4 mm .3 cm screws around the headphone jack. Lift the metal piece that is covering the headphone jack from one of the sides. Lift out the headphone jack.
  • Use Phillips # 000 to remove two of the 4 mm .3 cm screws around the headphone jack.

  • Lift the metal piece that is covering the headphone jack from one of the sides.

  • Lift out the headphone jack.
