Samsung BD-H5100 Disk Reader Replacement

Introduction

This guide will show how to remove and replace the disk reader in the case that it is no longer reading the DVDs.

What you need

  1. Samsung BD-H5100 Disk Reader Replacement, Disk Reader: step 1, image 1 of 1

    • Use the Phillips Head #2 screwdriver to remove the three 10 mm screws on the back panel.

    • Use the plastic spudger to pry open the top panel.

    • Be careful not to break the ribbon connecting the motherboard on the bottom panel to the top panel.

    • Pull the ribbons gently from one corner by the blue tabs to remove it.

    • Remove the two 7.5 mm screws on both sides of the disk tray with Phillips Head #2 screwdriver.

    • Push two small prongs on both sides inwards and push forward.

    • Remove the disk tray.

    • Flip the disk tray upside down.

    • Use the Phillips Head #00 screwdriver to remove the four 6.2 mm corner screws.

    • Flip the disk reader up like a flip phone.

    • Be careful not to break the ribbon.

    • Pull the ribbon out gently from one corner by the blue tab.
