How to remove and replace the batteries in any RCX (not just 1.0).

When your RCX runs out of battery power, you'll need to put in new batteries.

Image 1/1: Place the RCX on a flat surface.

  • Place the RCX on a flat surface.

Image 1/1: Flip the RCX over so its black IR window is facing away from you.

  • Flip the RCX over so its black IR window is facing away from you.

Edit Step 3  ¶ 

Image 1/1: Remove the gray battery cover by lifting from the front (near the IR window). Raise it at an angle and remove it to reveal the green battery compartment.

  • Remove the gray battery cover by lifting from the front (near the IR window). Raise it at an angle and remove it to reveal the green battery compartment.

  • You can now remove the batteries and insert new ones.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order. The orientation of the gray battery cover doesn't matter.
