Introduction

Use this guide to replace the front casing of your Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01.

Parts

No parts required.

Image 1/1: Slide the latch to the open position.
  • Locate the memory card and battery card latch on the bottom of the camera.

  • Slide the latch to the open position.

  • Open the battery latch, and slide the battery release lever to the right.

  • Remove the battery from the camera.

Image 1/1: Use this screwdriver for all screws in the device.
  • Using a size #00 Phillips screwdriver, remove the three 4.58 mm screws on the bottom of the camera.

  • Use this screwdriver for all screws in the device.

  • Remove the 3.15 mm screw on the left side of the camera.

  • Remove the left side casing.

  • Remove the two 3.15 mm screws on the right side of the camera.

  • Remove the bottom right panel.

Image 1/2: Start at the bottom and carefully pry towards the top to get this piece free. Image 2/2: Start at the bottom and carefully pry towards the top to get this piece free.
  • Gently remove the back casing.

  • Start at the bottom and carefully pry towards the top to get this piece free.

Image 1/1: Using a plastic prying tool, flip up the latch that holds the thin ribbon in place.
  • Gently lift up the LCD screen.

  • Using a plastic prying tool, flip up the latch that holds the thin ribbon in place.

  • It should fall out on its own or with a gentle tug.

  • Gently tug the thicker ribbon to remove it from its housing.

Image 1/2: There may be a third screw the the right of the lens assembly. Image 2/2: There may be a third screw the the right of the lens assembly.
  • Remove the two black 5.35 mm screws that hold in the front faceplate.

  • There may be a third screw the the right of the lens assembly.

  • Carefully remove the upper assembly, which houses the buttons and the flash battery.

  • Carefully remove the front casing after verifying that the thin plastic around the lens is not still attached.
