What you need

    • First, the laptop must be disconnected from the charger and powered off completely. To do this, shut down Windows using ctrl+alt+del.

    • Ground yourself by touching a suitable object in order to get rid of any electrostatic charge.

    • Close the laptop, and flip it over so that the back cover is facing upwards.

    • The 9 visible screws, highlighted in red and orange, must be removed in order to remove the back cover.

    • Additionally, the screws highlighed in orange are protected by rubber caps. Use a needle to remove the caps (see image 2).

    • In order to remove the drive, the drive bay must be unlocked. To do this, move the latch in the direction of the arrow.

    • After the drive bay is unlatched, the eject button must be pushed.

    • To do so, place your finger in the recess and push in the direction of the arrow.

    • After pressing the Eject button, the drive pops out, and can easily be removed.

    • Keep the drive somewhere safe.

    • To remove the battery, the latch must be unlocked.

    • Push the latch in the direction of the arrow.

    • The second latch, highlighted, must be pushed in the direction shown.

    • The latch is spring-loaded. Hold it in place with your finger.

    • While holding the latch with your hand, use your other hand to reach into the recess and lift the battery outwards and slightly upwards.

    • Store the battery somewhere safe.

    • In the battery compartment, there are three small screws, shown here.

    • All screws must be removed in order to remove the back cover.

    • First, unclip the four visible clips in the drive bay.

    • Use a screwdriver or other tool to slightly push the clips in the direction shown.

    • Be careful, the clips are fragile.

    • Similar clips are also in the battery compartment.

    • Unclip these carefully, following the same process as before.

    • This will create an opening at the top left of the housing.

    • With a plastic spatula or flat plastic tool, go along the gap around the housing.

    • The tabs around the rest of the housing can be easily opened by moving along the gap and lightly pressing inwards.

    • Be careful, and don't use much force. The latches will make a small noise when they are removed, ignore this.

    • Speaker units

    • Hard disk

    • To get to the hard disk, we have to remove the left speaker.

    • To do this, pull the cable connection upwards. The connector has two wings for this (push them together, and then pull the cable).

    • To remove the speaker, this screw must be removed.

    • Then, remove the loudspeaker upwards from the plastic centering pieces.

    • In order to remove the hard drive, this screw must be removed.

    • To make it easier to remove the hard drive, you can remove the entire daughterboard.

    • To do this, carefully bend back the hooks marked blue, attention unstable and remove the unit upwards and fold it backwards away from the cable.

    • The hard drive can now be removed.

    • To do this, move the hard drive towards the left, out of the SATA sockets, to remove it.

    • Remove the screws securing the frame

    • Remove the frame from the hard drive.

    • Attach the frame to the new SSD. Make sure you install it the right way around.

    • Push the SSD back into the socket

    • Re-attach the USB Daughterboard

    • Put the speaker back, and screw it in.

    • To do this, place the screwdriver in the front of the groove.

    • Press the button cell in the direction of the arrow, and then lift it upwards.

    • You can now place a new battery in. Push it in until it clicks.

    • Reassemble the housing in reverse order

    • Clip everything back in

    • Return all the screws

    • Put the battery and drive back

    • You're done!
