Epiphone Les Paul Guitar String Replacement

What you need

  1. Epiphone Les Paul Guitar String Replacement, Guitar String: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Loosen the first sting you would like to replace by turning the corresponding knob counter-clockwise.

    • Do NOT loosen/remove all strings at once! The lack of tension will cause the neck of the guitar to bend, and the guitar will have trouble staying in tune.

  2. Epiphone Les Paul Guitar String Replacement: step 2, image 1 of 1
    • Pull string away from the rest of the strings and snip it with the wire cutters.

    • String may go flying and will be sharp. Be careful.

  3. Epiphone Les Paul Guitar String Replacement: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the cut string from the bridge of the guitar and its corresponding spoke.

  4. Epiphone Les Paul Guitar String Replacement: step 4, image 1 of 2 Epiphone Les Paul Guitar String Replacement: step 4, image 2 of 2
    • Lead new string through bridge and then spoke. Leave plenty of slack in the string.

    • Strings will be color coded by the bead on the end of it, and the pack of strings will tell you which string goes where.

  5. Epiphone Les Paul Guitar String Replacement: step 5, image 1 of 2 Epiphone Les Paul Guitar String Replacement: step 5, image 2 of 2
    • Use your right hand to hold the slack near the bridge, and use your left hand to tightly pull the string through the spoke while turning the knob with the fingers of your left hand.

    • This may feel uncomfortable, and will also take the longest out of all the steps.

  6. Epiphone Les Paul Guitar String Replacement: step 6, image 1 of 1
    • Once the string starts getting tight and your right hand is no longer needed to hold slack, start tuning the string to the note you want it at.

    • You can use a tuner or your ear. This site can prove to be helpful: How to Tune a Guitar
