What you need

    • Turn off your laptop completely before starting the disassembly process.

    • Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove

    • The top two 6.8 mm corner screws

    • Four 5.8 mm-long screws

    • Make sure to keep the different length screws separate after taking them out for easier reassembly.

    • Use a plastic opening tool to pry the bottom panel.

    • Insert the end of the opening tool into the seam between the bottom and top cover.

    • Slide the opening tool around the edge of the bottom panel to release the clips holding them together.

    • The popping sounds during this process is normal.

    • Gently remove the bottom panel.

    • Using too much force can break the plastic clips securing the bottom panel.

    • Lift the black flap to reveal the RAM slot.

    • Using both thumbs gently push the two latches on either side of the slot apart to free the RAM.

    • Slide the RAM stick out from the slot on the motherboard.

    • When inserting a new RAM stick, align the notch on the RAM with the notch in the slot. When it is securely inserted, press down to click it into place.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order. Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
