Introduction
The keyboard on your G500 stops working or individual keys no longer work ? Just replace the keyboard !
Before starting the repair, turn off the device and unplug all devices.
Be sure to use an ESD mat or an ESD wristband.
Be careful when handling the battery, if it is already bloated you have to take precautions.
What you need
-
-
First you have to release the "lock" for the battery. You can do this by simply pushing the two sliders in the direction of the arrows.
-
-
-
Now you can pull the battery out and up. It might be a little tight, so feel free to use a little more force.
-
-
-
After the battery is removed, you can easily loosen the two screws shown using a Phillips screwdriver.
-
-
-
-
Now you can easily slide off the back cover in the direction of the arrows.
-
You can then remove it by lifting upwards.
-
-
-
After you remove the back cover, you should see the three marked screws.
-
You must remove them.
-
-
-
Now use a thin piece of sheet metal, a credit card or Jimmy (Ifixit tool) and gently push it into the slot between the frame and the keyboard. It"s best to start at the top right.
-
You can now pry very easily to lift the keyboard out of the clip. It"s best to insert another thin object in between after a clip has been released (so it doesn't slip back down).
-
-
-
Use a small flat-head screwdriver and lift the lock of the plug. (The small gray strip)
-
You can then pull the cable out of the connector.
-
Work through the steps in reverse order to reassemble your device.
