Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5-1570 RAM Replacement

What you need

    • Remove the ten 5 mm Phillips #00 screws that are holding the back panel on.

    • Use a spudger to pry open the back case at the two hinge cutouts.

    • Gently use the plastic opening tool around the edges of the laptop to pry up the clips holding the rest of the back panel.

    • Once all the clips have been disengaged, lift off the back cover.

    • Using your fingers, grasp the entire bundle of wires to pull the battery cable from its connector. This will cut off power to the motherboard.

    • Be sure to apply even pressure across the wires and connector to not damage the battery cable.

    • Push the two tabs on both sides of the RAM stick apart to release the memory module.

    • The RAM will rise up to rest at an angle to the motherboard.

    • Pull the RAM stick out of its port with respect to the angle at which it rests.

    • Be sure to handle the edges of the RAM card, as the oil on your skin can have damaging effects to the circuits or pins.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.

I've had a Lenovo Flex 5 for a number of years and it has been extremally reliable. I wasn't aware that upgrading anything on this unit was even possible. Thank you for this info, I'll be checking into this more.

Please suggest what DDR4 RAM I should buy to replace it. I have a 16 GB, I want to go 32 or 64.
