Introduction

The Headphone Jack itself is easy to change. However getting there can be a problem to some, follow these steps and replacement should be a breeze. This guide will demonstrate how to remove the following:

1.Speaker Cover

2. Back Cover

3. Headphone Jack connector

In order to complete this guide you will need the proper tools, a new headphone jack, and about 30 minutes to complete the replacement.

  • The speaker cover is the shinny black plastic piece on the back of the device.

    • Begin your replacement by inserting a plastic opening tool at the corner of the speaker cover

  • Using a T3 torx screw driver remove the 6 fuchsia colored screws located under the speaker cover

  • The headphone jack is located in the back cover on the top right corner.

  • To remove the headphone jack

    • Remove the silver T3 torx screw that is attaching headphone jack to the device

    • Using the spudger remove the electrical connector

  • To attach the new headphone jack

    • Align the holes on the electrical connector to the two black pegs on the device. Push down to adhere.

    • Adjust the headphone jack to the proper position so that the screw holes line up.

    • Using the silver T3 screw, Attach the headphone jack to the device using a T3 torx screwdriver

The screw that connects the headphone jack is larger than the the T3 fuschia screws. The screwdriver I ordered was too small.
