Introduction

This guide give instructions on how to locate the keypad for removal and/or repair.

  • Flip over the phone and then slide down the back cover with your thumb.

  • Lever out the battery from the phone using your thumb.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to pry out the two tabs on the top corners of the battery compartment.

  • Gently pull off hinge cap piece from the the top of the phone.

  • Using a T6 Torx Screwdriver, remove four 7.62mm screws around the corners of the battery compartment

Image 1/2: Using a plastic opening tool, run along the seam located around the sides of the phone to pop the clips holding the casing to the frame Image 2/2: Using a plastic opening tool, run along the seam located around the sides of the phone to pop the clips holding the casing to the frame
  • Open the phone and turn it on its side

  • Using a plastic opening tool, run along the seam located around the sides of the phone to pop the clips holding the casing to the frame

  • Using your hand, gently pull of the back panel from the bottom half of the phone.

Image 1/1: Using a plastic opening tool or your finger, lift up the motherboard from the bottom casing
  • Close the phone and place on flat surface

  • Using a plastic opening tool or your finger, lift up the motherboard from the bottom casing

  • Be careful when pulling up the board, there is still a ribbon cable on the back of the board

Image 1/1: Using a plastic opening tool, slowly detach the ribbon cable connection and pull the board away from the frame
  • When the board is pulled up, look for the ribbon cable holding the board to the rest of the phone

  • Using a plastic opening tool, slowly detach the ribbon cable connection and pull the board away from the frame

  • Once the motherboard is moved out of the way, pry out the keypad with a plastic opening tool
