JBL Clip Plus Speaker Replacement

What you need

  1. JBL Clip Plus Speaker Replacement, Battery: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Use the angled tweezers to carefully pull the rubber bumper off the back side of the device

  2. JBL Clip Plus Speaker Replacement: step 2, image 1 of 1
    • There will be three 6mm philips head screws under that rubber bumper, remove these three screws.

  3. JBL Clip Plus Speaker Replacement: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • The back cover should lift open easily and the components should be visible.

  4. JBL Clip Plus Speaker Replacement: step 4, image 1 of 1
    • The battery is adhered to the back cover of the JBL Clip Plus, slowly lift the battery away from the case, using a spudger to pry the battery away from the adhesive.

    • Remove the three 7mm philips head screws on the outer edges of the device.

    • Use the plastic prying tool to gently remove the face of the speaker from the body.

  7. JBL Clip Plus Speaker Replacement: step 7, image 1 of 1
    • Use the spudger tool to gently scrape away the adhesive holding in the microphone.

    • When working with electronics, it's important to choose a tool that's ESD-safe to avoid accidental damage to the device. The regular black nylon spudger or a plastic opening tool should be used whenever possible.

    • Gently push the motherboard away from the microphone, this will allow you to remove the microphone.

  9. JBL Clip Plus Speaker Replacement: step 9, image 1 of 1
    • Gently push the motherboard out from the frame of the JBL Clip Plus, this requires some force.

  10. JBL Clip Plus Speaker Replacement: step 10, image 1 of 1
    • There are three solder points that need to be desoldered.

    • If you need help with desoldering refer to How to Solder and Desolder Connections help. After these are removed the battery should be free.

    Its easy to cut wires then connect new battery using solderless connectors.

    Nice job. Wasn't able to use the same battery though. I just used something that I could find in a local electronic shop near home and made renovations to the battery housing for it to fit. Thanks you!

    • There are two #1 philips head 4mm screw fastening the speaker to the body, remove these.

do you know were can i buy the new speaker for my jbl clip +?

I work in A/V. I frequently need to adjust audio systems.

I want to add a switch to the speaker wire, so I can turn the speaker off, and use the line out port only, in order to test audio systems with a Bluetooth reciver.

I can be at the mixing board, adjusting sliders while the music is playing, with no cables.
