Introduction

The tristar tester is a device to test the tristar chip on Apple devices. The tristar chip is responsible for the regulation and charging of the battery. The tester can be a bit finicky and the manual is not great.

There are two modes
Standard - no need to do anything while booting up. The tester limits options to Quick Test
Expert - hold the right button while turning on the device enabling expert mode and the use of Test
I've found that if the tester is charging the tristar may provide you with a false positive.
If the battery on the device you are testing is disconnected it may also provide a false positive.
