Introduction

Jailbreak is the best thing that can happen on your iPhone or iPad. iOS jailbreaking is privilege escalation for the purpose of removing software restrictions imposed by Apple on iOS, tvOS, and watchOS. It typically does this by using a series of kernel patches. Jailbreaking permits root access to iOS, allowing the downloading and installation of additional applications, extension, and themes that are unavailable through the official Apple App Store.

Jailbreak allows removing restrictions Apple has put over iPhone and allowing more customization options to install Cydia which has unlimited apps, tweaks, themes, mods and more cool stuff on your iPhone or iPad devices.  Jailbreak procedure is different from each iOS firmware.

But, unlike many generations of iOS ago, the current jailbreak landscape isn’t as smooth and plain sailing as many would like it to be. With that in mind, it means that device owners really need to take a long, hard, and informed look at the landscape and ascertain whether or not it’s worth upgrading to iOS 12 and losing access to a jailbreakable version of iOS 11 or whether it makes sense to stay jailbroken on iOS 11 and forego all of the new iOS 12 improvements.

Now that we are in 12 firmware and it is harder than ever many developers don't believe in jailbreak iOS 12. But you shouldn't worry about it, because according to developers there will be a proper jailbreak toolkit for jailbreak iOS 12 sooner.

Even if we are in iOS 12 version you may looking for way to jailbreak iOS 11.3.1 or lower version. That's why today we are guiding about how to jailbreak iOS 11.3.1 or lower version using the popular Electra jailbreaktoolkit.

What Is Electra Jailbreak

Electra Jailbreak toolkit is a semi-untethered jailbreak for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2 by coolstar, a well-known hacker and developer. coolstar has released the jailbreak primarily for developers so that they could test their jailbreak apps and themes.

It is a semi-untethered jailbreak that makes use of Ian Beer’s async_awake exploit that has been used by LiberiOS jailbreak as well. A semi-untethered jailbreak is similar to an untethered jailbreak, it gives the ability to reboot your iOS device on its own.

Anyway, you should know that Electra jailbreak iOS 11.3.1 does not include Cydia, as Jay Freeman also known as saurik has not updated it for iOS 11 yet. But Electra includes Substitute, a Cydia Substrate alternative, so you can install jailbreak apps and tweaks manually.

If you are looking for way to install Cydia on jailbroken iPhone find it from'''Here'''. This Cydia Elite App allows to download Cydia on jailbroken iPhone.

    • If you have already downloaded iOS 12 or lower update remove it. This step is required to successfully run the jailbreak. You can remove the update by opening the Settings app, tapping General > iPhone Storage > iOS 12, and clicking Delete Update.

    • Prevent iOS 11.4 update from being downloaded. The Electra jailbreak is semi-tethered, and requires re-application every time the iPhone is rebooted. The jailbreak may fail if higher update is downloaded, and there is no way to prevent iOS from downloading the update in background even if you delete it from the iPhone.

    • Enable Airplane mode, disable Siri and reboot. Before you run the Electra jailbreak you may want to enable Airplane mode and disable Siri. You can disable Siri at Settings > Siri and Search; switch off both. Reboot the device afterwards. Make sure Airplane mode is still enabled after the device boots.

    • Troubleshooting: removing Find My iPhone and Passcode (and rebooting). While disabling Find My iPhone is relatively safe (except that you’ll have to allow the device connect to the Internet, with obvious consequences), removing the passcode will not allow you to extract some of the most sensitive information from the device after you jailbreak.

    • If you need to Reset All Settings, do it BEFORE jailbreaking. iOS 11 has allowed users to reset their iTunes backup password. As with most jailbreaks, you must not use Reset All Settings after you jailbreak, or else. On Electra, you will lose the jailbreak and won’t be able to reinstall it without resorting to XCode.
