Introduction

in this guide we will see how to clean the printhead.

first always try to clean the heads using the printer software, if that doesn't work use this guide...

Image 1/3: remove the cartridges and wrap them in kitchen paper. Image 2/3: it is recommended to wear gloves , cause there will be a lot of ink.. also draw a map of the printer and tape the screws to it so you don't lose them. Image 3/3: now wait until the printhead wirh the cartridges comes in place , then remove the cartridges.
  • open the printer like you would renew the cartridges

  • remove the cartridges and wrap them in kitchen paper.

  • it is recommended to wear gloves , cause there will be a lot of ink.. also draw a map of the printer and tape the screws to it so you don't lose them.

  • now wait until the printhead wirh the cartridges comes in place , then remove the cartridges.

  • unplug the machine

Image 1/3: in picture 2 and 3 you will see 2 black plastic parts, push them and the dispaly unit will come loose from the orange cover. when reassembling : look out that the white flat ribbon cable is correctly attached or you are not able to push the orange cover correct again.   • now you can remove the orange cover. but be carefull because the dispaly unit is still attached to the cover. if you pull the cover of there is a chance you wil tear the flat cable.

Image 1/2: there are two iron springs ( i hope this is correct, i don't know the correct word) remove them with pliers. be carefull hold them steady. Image 2/2: after that geltly remove the print head, but not the hole way cause the pcb is still attached to the head.

  • just pull ( gently) the flat cables away from the socket.

Image 1/3: now i recommend that you do this at a sink. Image 2/3: take a little bowl of water and one with distilled water in. Image 3/3: to clean the print head and the pads you only use distilled water ( you can buy this at a drug store or ..)

  • use a syringe to clean the pads and the little holes .. use also cotton swabs.

  • like you see in the first picture there will be a lot of dirty paper and water.

  • like you see in the pictures i cleaned the head the first time in the printer. you will do this above the sink. If you do it in the machine put a paper tissue under the print head.

Image 1/3: i mentioned 2 bowls : one with normal water and one with distilled. The bowl with normal water is to clean your syringe... Image 2/3: after cleaning : let it dry for a couple of hours. Image 3/3: if you spilled some water to the PCB : instantly clean the PCB with isopropyl alcohol.
  • when cleaning : do not spill distilled or orher water on the PCB, clean arround with cotton swabs. use the syringe with distilled water , spill it over the print head and clean with the swabs.

  • i mentioned 2 bowls : one with normal water and one with distilled. The bowl with normal water is to clean your syringe...

  • after cleaning : let it dry for a couple of hours.

  • if you spilled some water to the PCB : instantly clean the PCB with isopropyl alcohol.

  • in the last picture you see 3 or 4 black spots in the water. that where little grains of hard dry ink.. and causing my printing problem...

Image 1/2: when reassembling the print head : make sure the black lint ( see trough small black lint ) is again under the black connector. see picture Image 2/2: if the black lint is above the connector you will have "wagon error".  you will here the printer wack the print head agains the right side and will not go to the left side.
  • when reassembling the printer. afterwards print a alignment print page and a cleaning print head page.

  • when reassembling the print head : make sure the black lint ( see trough small black lint ) is again under the black connector. see picture

  • if the black lint is above the connector you will have "wagon error". you will here the printer wack the print head agains the right side and will not go to the left side.

I put the head back and reassembled correctly , but the carriage goes left and few cms and returned hitting right side , repeats twice and shows carriage jam error.The transparent ribbon is in right slot.The gears roll noisy before stopping.

Did you checked the black ribbon/ lint is in the correct place?

did you reset the printer ?
