Open the lid to the typewriter.

Wipe down the rails with a clean cloth to remove any debris, making sure to clean around the carriage.

Place several drops of the oil-based lubricant onto another clean rag, and wipe down the rails. Gently move the carriage back and forth to spread the lubricant.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
