Rust can appear after a few years inside a microwave, particularly to the area the tray rollers run over. This guide covers cleaning and applying touch up paint to the affected areas.
What you need

an enamel paint is required but it is not special for microwaves, e.g. the small tins used for modeling will do

unplug the microwave!

remove the glass tray and roller ring

rub the affected area with wirewool

wipe away any debris with a dry cloth

shake the tin

apply a thin coat with the brush

give the paint at least 6 hours to dry

apply 1 or 2 more coats as appriopriate
