    • Locate the tightening assembly. The tightening assembly consists of:

    • An upper nut

    • A lower nut

    • This step refers to clockwise and counterclockwise rotation. This is as viewed from the top.

    • If loosening the steering column, follow these steps:

    • Turn the upper nut counterclockwise.

    • Turn the lower nut counterclockwise until it is tight against the upper nut.

    • If the steering column is still too tight, repeat the above two steps until reaching the desired steering column looseness.

    • If tightening the steering column, follow these steps:

    • Turn the lower nut clockwise until reaching the desired steering column tightness.

    • Turn the upper nut clockwise until it is tight against the lower nut.

I couldn't turn this by hand. not sure who writes this advice. trying a pipe wrench.

My son just opened his brand new razor scooter and the head set is very loose. From past bicycle experience this will cause premature bearing failure and likely strip out the steering stem. This will in turn cost more to repair than it would be to replace the entire scooter. Are these headsets supposed to be loose from the factory?
