We removed this at 140k to clean the carbon build up from the exhaust gases over time. It keeps the engine running more efficiently. If the EGR system gets clogged, combustion temps will get too hot and will damage engine in the long run. If you get code p0401 egr flow insufficient, its caused by excess carbon, and doing this will help clear the code. If it's clogged excessively, or if its stuck open or stuck closed, then you might have to replace the parts.

Torque specs:

  • 10 ft. lbs - Wiper arms
  • 6 ft. lbs - Wiper motor mount bolts
  • 9 ft. lbs - Cowl sub assembly bolts
  • 6 ft. lbs - Air box bolts
  • 15 ft. lbs - EGR mounting nuts and bolts
  • 7 ft. lbs - EGR E8 torx stuf bolts
  • 7 ft. lbs - EGR pipe bolts
