HTC SMT 6175 Keyboard Replacement

What you need

  1. HTC SMT 6175 Keyboard Replacement, Back Case: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • First, flip the phone over so that the back is facing upwards.

    • Using both thumbs, push the back side of the phone's exterior up and remove the front face of the phone.

    • Insert your finger or a pry tool into the slot above the battery. Remove it and set aside.

    • To remove the back casing inside the phone, unscrew the 6 screws that are around the perimeter of the phone.

    • Carefully pull off back casing.

    • Warning: This can be difficult, but just start pulling the back out from the front shell. As it starts to lift up, continue moving around the phone until the whole back becomes free.

    • Next unscrew the top screw.

    • Warning: Be CAREFUL because the LCD screen is still attached to the front side of the motherboard by a flexible ribbon cable.

    • Pull the plastic keyboard away from the front case.

    • To remove the navigation keys on the front of the phone, unscrew the four screws circled using a Philips screwdriver.

    • Remove the navigation keys from the front of the phone. They should pop out as a unit.
