Introduction

This guide will show you how to replace the charging port of the HTC Rhyme.

  • This is the front and back of the HTC Rhyme

  • Take off the back by sliding the cover down.

  • Use a T5 to unscrew the 5 screws. The screw lengths are 1.587mm

  • Pull black back cover off of the phone.

  • Unscrew the two screws with a Phillips screwdriver. The screw lengths are 0.793mm

  • Push off the little silver piece resting above the charging port.

  • Disconnect the black cable on the upper right side of the motherboard.

  • Disconnect the green cables in the upper center part of the motherboard.

Image 1/3: When putting it back in, use your fingers to reconnect the wire. Image 2/3: When putting it back in, use your fingers to reconnect the wire. Image 3/3: When putting it back in, use your fingers to reconnect the wire.
  • Disconnect the yellow cable by gently pulling on it with tweezers.

  • When putting it back in, use your fingers to reconnect the wire.

  • Disconnect the white cord on the lower left side of the motherboard.

  • Gently remove the motherboard with you hand.

Image 1/3: Solder a new charging port onto the same spot that the previous charging port had been. Image 2/3: Solder a new charging port onto the same spot that the previous charging port had been. Image 3/3: Solder a new charging port onto the same spot that the previous charging port had been.
  • Desolder the charging port on the motherboard and remove the old charging port.

  • Solder a new charging port onto the same spot that the previous charging port had been.

  • Follow all of these steps in reverse order to put the phone back together.
