What you need

    • Before disassembly, power off the device and unplug it from the charger.

    • Turn the laptop over to access the lower case.

    • Using a metal spudger, remove the two horizontal screw covers.

    • Remove the seven 5.6 mm Phillips #00 screws.

    • When using the metal spudger, be careful to not press into the components and circuits under the keyboard .

    • Turn the laptop upright and lift the screen.

    • Use the metal spudger to carefully pry the plastic keyboard from the base of the laptop.

    • Work the spudger carefully and slowly around the cover to release the clips holding it together. Be patient since there are a lot of clips attaching the laptop base to the keyboard.

    • The cover is attached by multiple cables. Be careful not to lift the cover too far so you do not damage these cables.

    • Using tweezers, unplug the three cables attached to the keyboard. To do so you will find where the wires end (the three red marks). The next step is to use tweezers or your fingers to pinch the plastic piece holding the wires, and gently pull the piece out. After that it should disconnect.

    • Remove the plastic keyboard cover.

    • Remove the two 5.6 mm Phillips #00 screws.

    • Using tweezers or a nylon spudger, gently unplug the cable connector.

  7. HP Stream 11-y012nr Audio Jack Replacement: step 7, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the audio jack.
