This touch pad is the main interface for the printer, giving access to the settings, maintenance tools, and printing options.

Tilt the touchscreen as far forward as possible. Remove the two (2) 15mm T-10 Torx screws from behind the screen.

Once the screws are removed, apply a steady upward force on the front bottom corners of the screen until it pops loose.

  • Be careful to not move the screen too far from the printer before disconnecting it. You may damage the connections within the printer if you do.

Before removing the ribbon cable, flip the black bar up to unlock the cable. Grab the blue area of the cable near the connector and pull straight out of the socket. Pull this plug straight out of the socket slowly.

It would be useful to know where this skill leads. Can one open up the touchpad and address the issue that makes it unresponsive? Where can one get a replacement screen? The HP site has all kinds of steps to correct a partially unresponsive keypad that assume the problem is software or firmware based. Maybe, but my experience was that HP's suggestions do not fix what is probably a hardware problem. So, it's great that one can get into the guts of the keypad, but given that HP isn't forthcoming with replacement parts, suggesting where to get them, or what to try to fix the faulty pad would be very useful info. Just saying!
