HP EliteBook 850 G5 Battery Replacement

Introduction

How to replace the battery of a HP EliteBook 850 G5 laptop. The images and information in this guide were taken from this computer's service manual.

What you need

    • Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

    • Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.

    • Disconnect all external devices from the computer.

    • Turn the computer upside down on a flat surface.

    • Loosen the eight captive screws that secure the bottom cover.

    • Loosen the two inset captive screws that secure the bottom cover.

    • Starting under the middle of the display, pry and lift the bottom cover off the computer. Consider using a spudger.

    • Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.

    • Remove the four Torx T8 2.0×4.0 screws.

    • Rotate the top of the battery upward, and then lift the battery out of the computer.
