Introduction

This guide will walk you through the steps on how to remove your keyboard from your laptop. Before starting this guide make sure your laptop is not connected to a power source and your battery is pulled out. The screws from the RAM guide and the Hard drive guide should be removed to access the keyboard.

It is advised to work on this device only when it is OFF, to avoid electrocution risks. Please make sure your laptop is powered off. On the underside of the battery, there is lock that keeps the battery in place. Using your finger, slide the battery lock to unlock the battery.  When you have unlocked it, just lift the battery to remove it.

Loosen the two M2.5x3 mm Phillips screws securing the hard drive cover. Loosen the two M2.5x3 mm Phillips screws securing the hard drive cover.

On the same side as the two screws, there should now be an opening to lift off the cover. Using a plastic opening tool, sightly lift the case up to remove it.

Open up the front of the laptop. Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry open the keyboard from the edges. Open up the front of the laptop. Remove the keyboard by pulling on it with your hands.

  • There is a ribbon cable that is still connected on the back of the keyboard. Do not pull off the ribbon cable when pulling up the keyboard.

Locate the keyboard cable/wire that attaches the keyboard to the laptop . Locate the latch of the wire connector Unlatch the wire connector and gently pull out the wire with your hands
