HP Chromebook 14-x010wm Motherboard Replacement

Introduction

This guide will walk you through all the steps to remove the motherboard from your HP Chromebook 14-x010wm. You may find it reasonable to replace your motherboard if your CPU and/or I/O ports are damaged. This is a bit more challenging of a replacement process.

Be sure to take your time and not rush any steps.

What you need

Step 1 Motherboard

Start with unscrewing all 16 5.7mm screws from the bottom of the laptop.
Make sure to remove the rubber pads covering 4 of the screws near the back of the laptop.

Pop the clips around the perimeter of the keyboard tray.

Lift the keyboard tray carefully and disconnect the ribbon cables before setting it aside.

The motherboard is located in the top left corner of the laptop.
Be sure to disconnect the battery as well as any other connectors on the motherboard.
We recommend a prying motion on the two power cords seen in the top right of the motherboard.
