    • The retaining pin needs to be pushed out with a pointed tool. You can use a nail, a pen, or, like in my case, a center punch.

    • Slide the new lifting eye onto the shaft.

    • Insert the pin into the hole.

    • Press the pin STRAIGHT (!!) with pliers until it’s flush on both sides.

    • Insert the gearbox with the new lifting eye into the housing.

    • Mount the gearbox cover with the four screws:

    • 2x small screws

    • 2x machine screws with toothed washer

    • Finally, reattach everything to the main shaft.

    • Test the awning by extending and fully retracting it.
