If your Touch Screen is cracked or scratched up, obtain a new Touch Screen and replace the old one with the new Touch Screen.

Very detailed set of instructions! Does anyone known the thread size of the screws in step 2? 8.4 mm T5 screws: is the length of the screw (8.4 mm) ,and the head specification (T5- size of screw driver). I need the actual thread specification. I lost one of the screws and the other one 's head is stripped. I need to replace both screws.

Image 1/1: It is easiest to do this by pulling on the side tab as you wedge the touch screen away from the case.
  • Remove touch screen by using the plastic opening tool as a wedge to pry the touch screen from the case.

Image 1/1: Remove the tape connecting the gold ribbon cable circuit to the motherboard.
  • Lift the touch screen above the mother board so that its position is similar to what is shown.

  • Remove the tape connecting the gold ribbon cable circuit to the motherboard.

  • Peel the tape off slowly so there won't be any damage to the motherboard or gold ribbon cable.

Image 1/2: Gently remove the gold ribbon cable. Image 2/2: To insert a new screen in, attach the gold ribbon circuit to the motherboard by sliding it in place and pressing down on the tab.  This may take a few attempts before it is connected successfully.
  • Lift up the tab connecting the gold ribbon circuit to the motherboard, using a plastic opening tool if necessary.

  • Gently remove the gold ribbon cable.

  • To insert a new screen in, attach the gold ribbon circuit to the motherboard by sliding it in place and pressing down on the tab. This may take a few attempts before it is connected successfully.

The gold ribbon cable must be fully inserted under the flap. If there is no resitance in closing the flap, then it is not inserted all the way. It is difficult and takes patience with a steady hand. The tiny pins on the underside beneath the flap must penetrate the ribbon cable. A good magnifying glass is helpful.
