Introduction

The RAM is as important to your device as the hard drive is. The RAM holds temporary data and it stores every piece of software information that you have to allow it to run smoothly. This helpful guide will show you how to take your RAM out and replace it with a new one. You will need a plastic opening tool and a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

  1. Remove the back cover of the laptop by unscrewing eight 3.5mm screws using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

  2. Using the plastic opening tool, pry up the back cover. It is recommended to start from a corner and run the tool along the edge of the cover.

  3. Locate the RAM on the motherboard.
