Introduction
Over time, laptop speakers can blow out or degrade, which can ruin your media experience. If your Dell Latitude 7400 is experiencing distorted audio, crackling, or complete silence, use this guide to replace the internal speaker.
This repair requires opening the laptop's bottom case. Before you begin, power off the device and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical damage. You will need a standard Phillips screwdriver and a plastic opening tool to complete this replacement.
What you need

Lay the laptop on a flat hard surface facing downward.

Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove the eight 3 mm screws that secure the lower case.

Lift the lower case off and set that aside.

Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to loosen the two 3 mm captive screws that secure the battery.

Gently grip the battery connector loop and lift it to disconnect the battery connector.

Lift the battery up and out.

Disconnect the speaker cable from its connector on the motherboard.

Unthread the speaker cables from the routing guides, and carefully pull the cables out from the metal snap.

Use a spudger to pry both sides of the speakers off the rubber grommets, then carefully pull the speakers out.

To reassemble your device, follow the above steps in reverse order.
Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
